Riley Moore, Tyson Smoothy and Tom Rafter will fulfil their footballing dreams this weekend when they take the field in Round One of the Intrust Super Cup for the Vantage Homes Sunshine Coast Falcons.

All three have been named in this week’s side for today’s clash against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

Coach Eric Smith says it is an exciting time for the club as three local talents are all making their debut on the one day.

“It made me really happy and gave me goose bumps when I had to go tell those three guys and see the look on their faces when I told them they were playing,” Smith said.

“I’m really excited for all three of those kids.”

Sunshine Coast locals are also excited, as all three debutants commenced their football careers through the Sunshine Coast Falcons junior pathways.

Tom Rafter has been in the Falcons system since he was 13, playing all the way through from the Cyril Connell Cup under 16s, Mal Meninga Cup under 18s, Hastings Deering under 20s Colts, and now to his Intrust Super Cup debut.

Rafter says being brought up in Falcons’ system and knowing all the staff really helps boost his confidence.

Riley Moore has been apart of the Falcons family since he was a junior and says it’s great to have been in the system for so long.

“Its good knowing the systems and stuff but more so probably knowing who’s in around the Falcons,” Moore said,

“It’s a pretty good system now coming through from 16s, 18s, 20s and after 20s going through to the Cup.”

The youngest of the debutants, Tyson Smoothy, started his Falcons career when he was 16, playing for Coast sides until he made the move to the Brisbane Broncos’ under 20s system two years ago.

Although still young enough to remain eligible for selection in the 20s, he now returns to the club where it all started, making his Intrust Super Cup debut at hooker.

“It’s a really exciting day for the club,” said Smith.
